Do I need to buy furniture?
Before you move in, make sure you know what furniture comes with the property. If you're unsure, ask the landlord or estate agent. If you need to buy furniture, make sure you're ready to do so. If you want the landlord to remove any furniture, make sure you negotiate this as part of your offer.
Is the property going to be cleaned?
Make sure you know whether the property is going to be professionally cleaned before you move in. If you expect it to be, communicate this with the estate agent or landlord.
Organise your utility accounts and broadband
Make sure you organise your utility accounts and broadband before you move in. Check with your estate agent or landlord to see if they will move the utilities to your name, or if you need to do it yourself. Look into different providers and book your broadband installation ahead of time.
How many sets of keys do I need?
As per your tenancy agreement, each tenant is provided with a set of keys. If you need more, make sure you request them in advance. If you need security keys, be prepared to cover the cost without a refund at the end of the tenancy.
Key collection
Make sure you know how you will collect the keys to the property. Will the estate agent meet you at the property, or do you need to collect them from the office? Make sure you know when you can collect the keys and whether you need to be present. This will help you plan your removal van accordingly.
