-About Kensal Green
The names Kensal Green and Kensal Rise are used somewhat interchangeably by non-residents to denote the same neighbourhood, although residents differentiate between the areas based on proximity to the local tube and train stations. Very roughly speaking, the area west of Chamberlayne Road, north of the Harrow Road and south of Kensal Rise railway station is considered Kensal Green while that to the east of Chamberlayne Road and north of the station is considered Kensal Rise.
Local residents are spoilt for choice for green spaces to roam in, from King Edwards Park and sports ground to the beautifully tended Roundwood park, complete with playground, basketball courts, an aviary and café with delicious freshly cooked food.
Transport
Located in Zone 2, Kensal Green Underground is on the Bakerloo Line which goes straight to Oxford Circus, Piccadilly, Charing Cross and Waterloo. It is also a London overground station which connects with Euston and Watford Junction.
Schools
State schools such as Princess Federica Church of England, Kenmont, St Luke’s Church of England and Queen’s Park Community School all have good reputations. As do those that form part of the ARK Schools group: ARK Franklin Primary Academy, Ark Brunel and Ark Atwood.
Private options come in the shape of Seacole, Maple Walk and Lloyd Williamson primary schools and Bales College secondary school, which takes pupils up to age 18.
Little known fact
Regular guided tours are available of 19th-century Kensal Green Cemetery, where notable graves include that of Anthony Trollope and Wilkie Collins.
