Queen’s Park is a family-friendly residential area with quiet streets of Victorian and Edwardian houses surrounding the park of the same name, a beautifully tended, award-winning park that is home to tennis courts, a well-run café, a bandstand, flower gardens, and a playground with a (somewhat temperamental!) paddling pool.
The main thoroughfare of the area is Salusbury Road with Queen's Park station at one end and Brondesbury Park railway station at the other. Salusbury Road has a buzzy vibe, with a number of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, co-working spaces and up and gyms.
Given its excellent transport links, amenities and prime housing stock, Queen’s Park has a more international set than local surrounds of Kensal, so don’t be surprised to hear many languages being spoken as you wander round on a Sunday morning.
Transport
Located in Zone 2, Queen’s Park Underground is on the Bakerloo Line which goes straight to Oxford Circus, Piccadilly, Charing Cross and Waterloo. It is also a London overground station which connects with Euston and Watford Junction.
Schools
State schools such as Princess Federica Church of England, Salusbury Primary, St Luke’s Church of England and Queen’s Park Community School all have good reputations. As do those that form part of the Ark Schools group: Ark Franklin Primary Academy, Ark Brunel and Ark Atwood.
Private options come in the shape of Seacole, Maple Walk and Lloyd Williamson primary schools and Bales College secondary school, which takes pupils up to age 18.
Top Tip
Get in early at the weekly Queen’s Park Farmers’ Market for a vast array of organic vegetables, dairy products, and free-range meats and check out the beautiful Lonsdale Mews, claimed by some to be the best street in the whole area!
