Description

Located under three miles from both Reading and Twyford Stations (both to feature on the Crossrail link connecting Reading with Canary Wharf and the City of London) and walking distance to Blue Coat School, the village centre and the River Thames is this charming period home. Believed to date back to the 1920s in the Arts and Craft style this three bedroom detached house sits on a 0.15 acre plot and has been owned by the same family since 1970 and offers potential to extend and/or re-build. The property has had some improvements including a new boiler in 2019, a new bathroom and some recent decoration work there is still some improvement which can be made to create a lovely home in a favoured location. The property retains a wealth of charm and original features including, exposed beams and two lovely fireplaces designed by the well-known local designer and developer Sidney Paddick.
On entering the house there is a generous entrance hall with parquet flooring and ample storage and two reception rooms, both have exposed beams and period fireplaces. The sitting room gives access to a conservatory/play room which in turn leads to the private rear garden. There is a kitchen to the rear of the house and a ground floor wc. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms both with ample storage in the eaves of the house and a third single bedroom. The first floor is completed by a delightful contemporary bathroom which has just been fitted and come complete with a remote control Aqualisa shower over the bath. The house further benefits from a garage to the side with wooden double doors as well as rear access to and from the garden. There is ample frontage to the house offering parking for several cars and which is shielded by mature bushes and could be gated by the new owners to add even greater privacy. To the rear of the house there is a generous private garden. This lovely period home is for sale with not chain complications.
