Winkworth is excited to partner with the Children’s Book Project to help share the joy of reading with children across the UK.
Did you know that one in five disadvantaged children in the UK doesn’t own a single book? The Children’s Book Project is dedicated to tackling this issue of book poverty, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to own and cherish their own books. With a belief in the transformative power of reading, the charity empowers children to choose books they are excited to read and builds reading communities.
Winkworth is proud to collaborate with the Children’s Book Project by supporting their mission through donations of gently used books. Winkworth offices across the UK will serve as donation points, inviting local families to contribute any books they no longer need. These books will be passed on to children who have few or no books of their own, providing them with the resources to explore, learn, and grow.
Research shows that book ownership is linked to improved mental health in children and nurtures a love of reading that leads to better educational outcomes. This year alone, the Children’s Book Project plans to gift over 440,000 books to children in schools and other settings across the country.
The majority of these books come from generous families who have outgrown them, and by running this book drive, we’re ensuring that pre-loved books find their way to children who will benefit the most. Through this partnership, we are helping to place thousands of books directly into the hands of disadvantaged children across the UK.
Together, we’re giving every child the chance to thrive. We are inviting you to donate any fiction and non-fiction books in good condition for babies, children and young people aged 0-14 years.
